The calm before the storm
I hit a physical slump at 5pm, so I nicked off from work early and put myself through successful hell by trying to finish my Christmas shopping at Liverpool Street station. At 5pm. On 23rd December. Hypoglycaemic. Embarking on LadyTime. Fun!I stood at the Benefit counter shovelling a Dairy Milk + Wafer in my gob - attractive. It felt very pointless, me, looking bedraggled and greedy, studying the cosmetics.
And at Tesco I couldn't have seemed any more single girl if I'd tried. My shopping consisted of a microwave curry, mini bottle of red wine, one pint of milk and one yoghurt. ROCK.
But when I got home I managed to finally relax, and the following ingredients brought on a feeling of Christmassy calm:
Badly Assembled Christmas Megamix and Regina Spektor on the stereo
No lights, just candles, all of them
All the presents piled up, ready to wrap
All the presents piled up, wrapped
My mini bottle of red wine in my new antique wine glass
NO WORK TOMORROW!
