I get a kick out of personal alarms

Wow, tonight when I arrived at my home tube station, two police officers were stood by the door. I did my usual kind of 'la la laaaa, just passing through with a bag of shopping from Tesco, actually nothing naughty about me at all' guilty look at the floor as I was walking out, but then did a last-minute look at one of them, who said,

'Would you like a free personal alarm?'

I said, well actually yes I would, thank you very much, and actually someone tried to attack me a few days ago. I told him when and where and he asked me if I'd reported it and I said no and he said to call the police station ...

... and here I am now, on the phone to them. I mean, on hold to them. Still. Hours later. Maybe I should call back? Bah.

But don't you think that's good, the handing out of free personal alarms? Or does that mean the police are surrendering and saying, you look after yourselves, dear public?

Oh. The police have just said I should go to the police station. I don't know when that is ever going to happen.

I have the aftertaste of a raspberry tom collins in my mouth. Lovely. Lovelier, though, is going for a raspberry tom collins after work and then it still being light after you come out. I get a very palpable kick out of the fresh daylight saving. Doesn't everyone?

Then I remembered that my last relationship was conducted entirely within daylight saving hours. Je ne sais pas whether to take this as a good omen (I'm not, really) or if this is just why I'm starting to feel a bit antsy. (Starting?) At least it's buoying me up a bit. Apart from that it still DOES get dark and scary things happen in the dark.

Um, really, if I have to go to the police station to make a report, like when's that going to happen? Verily I'm not going to go out in the dark on a weeknight for a 20 minute walk down side streets, putting myself at risk of another mishap. What would you do?
