Pass the musical meme on the left hand side

It's been commanded by Lee and so I must obey...

I: Ten Random Songs
Instructions: Put your MP3 player on "shuffle" and list the first ten songs that play, no matter how embarrassing:

1. Chinatown - Luna (ooh that one is for Erica!
2. Swim - Madder Rose (hurrah for being 16!)
3. Being Cool - Kimya Dawson
4. Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground - The White Stripes (ek)
5. Consolation Prize - Orange Juice (Ooh, one for you, Lee!)
6. Words and Guitar - Sleater Kinney (meh)
7. Staralfur - Sigur Ros (one that won me a point at the pub quiz, as I remember)
8. Move Over Darling - Doris Day (oh god I LOVE it and it was on the jukebox at a critical point in a break up - cue tears!)
9. You Can't Save Everything - Songs: Ohia
10. Prelude to 110 or 220 - Women of the World - Jim O'Rourke (great, thanks shuffle for picking the one with the longest title to type out...)

II: Question and Answer Section

Read question. Answer question.

What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
(Shouldn't that be 'filage' or the equivilent, rather than 'files', plural?)

617 songs, or 1.5 days of listening pleasure

What is the song you last listened to before beginning this meme?

The Only Living Boy in New York - Simon and Garfunkel

III: Write down five songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.

1. Sick and Tired - The Cardigans
I really very rarely listen to it now, but when Mark Radcliffe started playing it when I was in the 6th form, it started to ... this sounds so cheesy ... change my life. because it was that thing where someone write the song you never knew you were always waiting to hear. I bought the cassingle and had it on repeat on my walkman as I cycled across the meadow before going back to do some more exam revision. It was this song that made me stop dressing like a boy, say goodbye to grunge, and hello to music I really, really liked. Hurrah!

2.True Faith - New Order
Or really anything from Substance because I listened to that on repeat when I was about 11 or 12 and True Faith was my favourite then. It was that 'nobody understands me' thing and, not being an actual moody teen yet, the only time I was allowed to be grumpy was listening to Substance in bed.

3. Peach, Plum, Pear - Joanna Newsom
It's just an addiction. I have really not got bored of this song yet, even after the heavy rotation I've had it on. It's the chorus of cats singing - it gets me somewhere.

4. My Girl - Madness
Oh another one I rarely listen to, but I will nearly cry whenever I hear it. There was obviously a lot of Madness being played in our house when I was pre-conscious because they were my brother's favourite band it's somehow sunk in there and if I were to pick one Madness song it would be this one, but they all do something similar. That's why I had to salvage the Complete Madness video of videos from my brother's bin when he was throwing it out.

5. Debaser - The Pixies
For the 1993 summer evenings spent walking to local gigs with it in my head and thoughts of the two boys I pined for.

V: Pass this stick to three persons and explain why.
I'm not sure any of the people I would ask would want to do a meme, but let's try GDC, Pabs and Buck.
