Does anyone? Judging from the venom Damon was spouting on Mark Radcliffe last night, it seems that most musicians involved think it's a cynical music exec plan that they think is a waste of time ... and yet play at.
I have been listening to some rock and roll songs recently and enjoying the bonkers similies that songs of yore employed. Samples:

Marvellous. Nothing like that since Snap told us they were serious as cancer (when they say rhythym is a dancer.)
I liked it when Jeffrey Lewis sang that balding was the most manly thing he'll ever likely do.
