Accomplishments and lumpishments

List of things accomplished yesterday:

* Sat and watched as beautiful sink unit (argh that photo doesn't do it justice cos it just looks naff and you don't look at the front as much as down onto the huge expanse of stainless steel which is v nice) was installed by large, friendly plumber who spoke in manner of Michael Elphik

* Sat and watched as washing machine was plumbed in by above plumber

* Wished plumber could have been Christopher Plumber who could have entertained me with renditions of Edelweiss

* Made said plumber endless cups of tea

* Did three loads of laundry in new washing machine

* Watched film adaptation of Elvis' life on Channel 5 (but of course), and learned a lot more about the man

* Read Observer Magazine (yes, from Sunday) Elvis supplement, and read what his ex-lovers said about him (morbid fear of penetration maybe, excellent kiser, such soft lips)

* Had haircut in manner of female Elvis**

This morning I had the New York 'interview' which really wasn't much of an interview, more of just being told what the job's about. So I don't know how they're going to short list who gets to go, but if it's down to who was the most enthusiastic I hope I have a good chance.

**Not strictly true, but I can twiddle the front up into a quiff which sometimes falls down without my knowing it and sometimes just sticks up a la Something About Mary. Had the most amazing hair wash in the world... ever. A cranial orgasm.

Slightly (understatement) moved by the touching episode of Perfect Match last night. (See here for breakdown of how it works.) The girl was almost unfaultable except that she had the odd dodgy top choice, and clearly had dodgy CDs in her collection ... and did pick the bloke I certainly would NOT have picked. But it was all terribly lovely; apart from the emotional fuckwit first guy who seemed to get on with her extremely well and just freaked out at how they seemed to be getting on well and made the old favourite excuse of 'not being over his last relationship' to get out of there, the other two guys were falling over themselves to be her boyfriend. Which did make me feel warm and wobbly inside. She showed her vulnerable side (her mum died of cancer 5 years ago) and let the boys take care of her, and they couldn't stop praising her courage and strength. I was fully weeping by the end, and was glad to hear the anchor man at the end say 'oh, I've got a lump in my throat now'.
