Job Centre

New year, thoughts of new jobs. There are many jobs that I wish I had:

* 60s girl group backing singer, particularly doing the Hey! Hey! HEY!s on that Dusty Spr!ngfield one from Sm@ck the Pony theme. Man, it must be the best fun EVER. WHY AM I NOT BLACK FORTY YEARS AGO? ... or able to sing?

* Running C!nema Classics in Manhattan, if, indeed, it is still there. Because it combines the wonderful things of: downtown Manhattan, slouchy cafe, eclectic film program, muffins and pound cakes, teas, hot chocolates... Why did someone get there before me and why can I not conceive of doing that in London?

* Hairstylist ... just to honour the hours I used to spend with my Girls World in front of the telly. The only problem is the long hours standing up. But now it's too late anyway because you have to be young and able to live off being paid 21p an hour when you start.

* Cartoon voice over-er ... because a French man once told me I should do that - maybe in France? Ooh that would be nice. But I think you have to be like a trained actor for that.

* Party popper maker - because look at me here on New Years Eve, I love the stuff! Imagine being able to smell it all day long. Except I don't think you just get to let them off and smell them all day.

So you can see, I'm doomed to squinting at paper and losing my sight to a computer moniter. God it's all so mundane.
