Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004 - 3:10 p.m. And there's a concrete sky Cafe and pub crawls around N16, E8 and N1 are amongst my favourite things about living in East London. And, indeed, London as a whole. Yesterday the hours between 4pm and 11.30pm were filled doing just this. Best features:* trance-enducing games of cat's cradle * putting the world to rights with Magoo - somebody should really put us in charge of the world * gift exchange and the cutest milk jug ever so that now I can finally have tea parties in style * real coal fires and cheese and onion crisps and real ale (non-chewy) * day slipping into evening unnoticed * stealth crafting - who knew I had innate macrame skills? * Georgian and Victorian pubs - wholesome, warm and chunky, and dark, ornate and mirrored, respectively. I remembered there ARE some things that Britain does better than anywhere else in the world. Hurrah! Least good features: Another observation: plot lines in E@stenders seems to be entirely based around mobile phone conversations; the other day we were talking about how so many old films could not be made nowadays because the plots revolve around certain characters not being out of communication and therefore safety. No, don't ask for any examples right now. Yesterday there was a concrete sky and today it's bright blue and the air is freezing. It's brilliant. I have my legwarmers on and I fear they're going to have to stay on when I leave the house shortly. Is that so awful?
